We have an exciting opportunity for a GIS Developer in our South Holland office. The essential responsibilities of this position include:
  • Develop and maintain GIS data resources for public access
  • Digitize, create, maintain, display and update GIS databases, coverages, and linkages to various GIS databases
  • Produce accurate maps and other representations of data for public use
  • Record and document details of map updates
  • Prepare GIS layers, applications and data sets for various departments, both internal and external
  • Analyze client operations and recommend ways to adapt GIS application to improve current operations
  • Maintain and ensure that databases are up to date and accurate
  • Gather field data with GPS collector client for use in various mapping applications

Desired qualifications for this position include:
  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as geography, computer science, surveying or engineering
  • 8 – 10 years’ experience as a GIS developer
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cartography
  • Experience with Microsoft products, specifically Word and Excel, is required
  • Experience with MS SQL Server including installation, configuration, security, spatial views and programming is required
  • Experience with ArcGIS Server including installation, configuration, data migration, backup and troubleshooting is required
  • Experience with all aspects of ArcGIS Online including collector, survey, operation dashboards and security is required
  • Experience in several programming languages such as Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript as they relate to ArcGIS data and processes is required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and relationship building skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision making skills
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and prioritization skills
